How they can tell between an undead and living? Simple: the senses.
Remember it can be speculated to be using the brain that only concerns itself with self-preservation, therefore, instincts for distinguishing food (through whatever still functions) of the senses. Hence implying "low intelligence" as it's an intelligence brought upon instinct, not thought.

Zombies have become a part of pop culture. But the point is to remember what purpose they serve in modern day horror: a small, but direct, device to use to reflect the conduct of a whole group of people.

Zombies encompass a human at his most basic of instincts. The need to survive, the need to live, and the need to eat (to survive of course). Even though they are vastly unintelligent, they still possess the basic instincts to keep themselves alive. Another thing to think about... if they are so unintelligent how can they tell the difference between a zombified person and a non-zombified person? ;)

Zombies have become a part of pop culture really. Now a-days, they are much faster and much more feral than before. And I'm sure everyone has thought about an anti-zombie apocalypse plan. There's even books dedicated to that very topic!

Nice post! I've never played the game but it looks interesting.

Perhaps shortening it up a little will help keep it clear. Wonder what other games you could do...
